Congratulations to our Outstanding Young Woman -  Emily Kvalheim



Emily received the  Young Women in Public Affairs Award from Zonta International!
 

In early July,  Emily Kvalheim, a 2011 graduate of Westerville Central High School was informed by Zonta International she had been named as one of five recipients’ of the 2011 Young Women in Public Affairs Award.  Emily is the daughter of Dave and Jill Kvalheim.  She is the 1st Outstanding Young Woman from Westerville Central.  This fall she plans to pursue studies in international relations and political science at American University, Washinton D.C.

Emily is the only young woman from the United States to be given the Young Women in Public Affairs Award this year.

“The Zonta Club of Columbus is thrilled that Emily has been selected for this honor” says Suzanne Martin, OYW Chair.  “Emily is one of twelve high school women selected by the club for a 2011 Outstanding Young Women Award.  Recipients are selected from young women nominated by high schools throughout central Ohio.  This is also an honor for our club.”







Zonta & Ohio National Guard join together for Destined 2 Lead - Leadership Forum



On June 4, seven Zontians facilitated a Destined2Lead leadership forum at the Ohio National Guard's Teen Retreat at Camp Nuhop in Mohican State Park.  After enjoying a few icebreakers, nineteen daughters of military personnel and five counselors participated in small group discussions and shared experiences and relationships that have shaped their values.  The three part program helped the girls to discover their leadership in action.

The following Zontians enjoyed facilitating at this fun and fulfilling forum: Bobbi Allen, Judy Gilliam, Margot Hoffman, Louise Kutz, Suzanne Martin, Kathy Ryan and Alice Tyler.
