JOIN connects all who wish to provide emergency services to low-income families in Franklin County. The Zonta Club of Columbus shares in the JOIN mission by providing directed funds to victims of domestic violence. This includes but is not limited to the cost of changing locks for protection, bus tickets away from the city to a safe haven, and food, clothing and other basic needs when women and often their children are forced to go into hiding from the violence in their own homes.
In addition, Zontians contribute individual donations of food, clothing, personal hygiene items, blankets, diapers and even candles when there is no other source of heat. This is another small step and way for club members to contribute to the health and welfare of women and children in our community.
The staff and volunteers at JOIN also provide many resources to connect community people in need with other community organizations and government resources for which they are eligible. JOIN assists in guiding them through the red tape and paperwork to access urgently needed resources. All JOIN programs are administered without regard to the race or religion of those found in need and in full cooperation with all agencies, public or private, secular or religious, which also work on behalf of those in need.
Through the J.O.I.N. service project, Columbus Zontians work to improve the status of women everywhere, joining with others who care, serving with a thankful heart and making a real difference in the lives of women in Central Ohio.
